What Is Included With The Boiler Grant?
Leading Brand 'A' Rated Boilers & Radiators
The central heating grant gives you access to a range of leading boiler and radiator brands and to install in your home.
Magnetic Filter
This will keep water running clean and prevent blockages, extending life of your new boiler.
Pipes and fittings
All pipes and fittings are installed as well as protective chemicals put into the system to protect your boiler even further.
How To Qualify For The Free Boiler Grant?
If you have no heating system or a system that does not involve a boiler and radiators then you will be eligible for the grant. For you to be successful in your application and to be approved for the grant, somebody living at the property must be in receipt of one or more of the qualifying state benefits such as child benefits or universal credit.
Usually a full list of these qualifying state benefits are stated on our application form. In some cases there may be exceptions to this rule if the household qualifies under the ECO flex rules.
Applicants under the central heating grant scheme must satisfy the following criteria:
- Own your home
- Private tenants must have permission from the landlord
- Receive a combination of government benefits (see below)
- The existing boiler must be more than 5-years old
- Your property must have a gas supply

Please note that if you are an applicant in receipt of pension credits and child tax credits where your annual household incomes is less than £16,010, you automatically qualify for a central heating grant under the Affordable Warmth Scheme.

Due to the way in which funding restrictions work in relation to the Affordable Warmth Scheme there are cases in which some households will be asked to contribute towards the cost of installing a new central heating system.
If you are an applicant in receipt of child tax credits, working tax credits and universal credits you will be assessed based on your household income thresholds. The thresholds are calculated in relation to the number of bedrooms in the property and the number of adults & children living in your home.
The ECO scheme also dictates whether homeowners should have a replacement central heating system installed if the property already has a boiler and central heating system installed and if the current boiler in the property is broken or more than five years old. If the boiler is less than five years old then the free replacement scheme will assume that it will be more cost effective to repair the boiler than to replace it entirely.

What is the ECO Initiative?
In the meantime, the Energy Company Obligation initiative was created by the government with the aim of making it mandatory for the UK’s mainstream energy suppliers to offer free insulation for cavity walls and lofts. It is under the ECO initiative that an additional scheme was created, the Affordable Warmth Scheme which might provide you with a central heating grant if you qualify. First time central heating grants are available from the government as part of the ECO initiative as this works towards reducing fuel poverty throughout the UK.
